My name is Greg Race and I've been a builder for Hubbell Homes for nearly two years. I have more than 15 years in the construction-homebuilding industry and thoroughly enjoy coordinating inspections, looking at quality control and scheduling in this role.
What drew you to apply at Hubbell?
What drew me here was the size of the company. I looked at the different opportunities to grow my professional career and I saw a lot of opportunities.
What do you enjoy most about your job as a superintendent?
The thing I enjoy about my job is that I get to be outside and be in mother nature. And I enjoy the leadership I carry to get my job. It’s great – everybody seems to be focused on the same goal which is making customers happy. That’s
what we do! We sell a product and make raving fans. Just showing people that you care, you know? Building homes is something people will be with and in for a long time, so to know that everything is to plan and at the year end review, they see their
home was built well.
What Hubbell core value speaks to you most?
I like the ‘Engineering Mindset’ and that’s because, as far as my job goes, things are put on a print and they’re lines. But when you’re in the field, you have to think on your toes and you can have guys waiting on you. So,
I’d say engineering… I like to think!
What advice would you give someone applying with Hubbell?
Be yourself and if you make it through the interview process, explain who you are. Beside the job title you’re going for, explain other things you’re good at so that there may be other positions that may fit you a bit better. This is a big company and there’s a lot of opportunity.
