Rick joined Hubbell Realty Company in 1984 and was promoted to President and CEO in 2004.
The Hubbell team is most proud of the four “Extreme Builds” completed under Rick’s leadership. In 2006, Hubbell and its team of trade partners and suppliers built a new home for an Iowa family on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”
In 2009, Hubbell’s team built”9 Homes for 9 Families in 9 Days” for the Des Moines-based nonprofit Anawim Housing. This was a nine-unit rowhome project that allowed Anawim to set its own rental rates for clients.
In 2013, Hubbell and its team built “Cabins for Campers 24/7” for Easterseals Iowa’s Camp Sunnyside. This week-long project replaced the 1960s vintage cabins with two 7,500 SF dormitory-style cabins that are handicap accessible, energy-efficient and built with an interior storm shelter. These two cabins serve more than 2,400 Easterseals campers every year.
In 2017, Hubbell’s team completed its fourth and largest “Extreme Build” for the Ronald McDonald House of Central Iowa titled “Keeping More Families Close.” Together with more than 100 trade partners and nearly 1,000 volunteers, the Hubbell team worked around-the-clock to complete the 18-bedroom house in 11 days. The new Ronald McDonald House now totals more than 17,000 SF and features three kitchens, updated office space and board rooms, multiple family rooms, a new playground and abundant parking.
Hubbell Realty’s mission is to “Enhance the quality of life in our communities...” and these four “Extreme Builds” exemplify this commitment.
