All of our apartment communities — from the multi-building sites in downtown Des Moines, to the lofts along MLK Jr. Parkway, to our vibrant properties in Sioux Falls — continually take pride in promoting healthy living. One way we do this is by making all of our apartment communities non-smoking. If you're thinking about living in one of our communities, you can enjoy these benefits of living in a smoke-free apartment!
Maintains a Healthy Outdoor Environment for People and Pets
When we made the choice to transition all of our apartment communities to non-smoking years ago, we did so because maintaining a clean community is vitally important for us and all of our residents. Not only that, without cigarette butts strewn about the community grounds, children and pets can run free without finding these nuisances.
According to the American Lung Association, "The most common secondhand smoke threat to children's health is usually right in their own home. Secondhand smoke contains more than 7,000 chemicals, 70 of which are cancer causing. Each year, 280 children die from respiratory illnesses caused by secondhand smoke."
A Non-Smoking Community Means Less Risk for a Fire
By eliminating both smoking in our apartment homes and throughout the common areas, we eliminated one of the typical contributors of apartment fires: leftover cigarette butts. Of course this doesn't eliminate all risk, but as one of the leading causes (according to P3 Insurance Services, Inc.), we wanted to ensure our residents could live with us without this concern.
Our Focus is on Promoting the Health and Well-Being of Our Residents
Whether it's our workout tips, introduction to yoga, or suggestions for enjoying the great outdoors, we are committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle for all of our residents.
