Design Studio: 2020 Color of the Year

Every year, designers and homeowners alike anxiously await the Sherwin Williams unveiling of their Color of the Year.

This year's color is Naval. Inspired by the Roaring 20's, this calming color can be used just about anywhere. It's richness can enhance a once simple space into something a bit more dramatic.

Similar to the 2019 color, Cavern Clay, which had a Tuscan and pueblo feel to it, Naval is also connected to nature. Whether you enjoy a coastal vibe or something more earth-toned, this color goes great with complimentary colors like kale green and soft yellows.

This color is also perfect for the up-and-coming uses of gold-toned hardware like cabinet handles, picture frames and lamps and natural materials such as warm leathers, raw wood finishes and greenery. You may notice it being used as an accent wall in an office or as a lower cabinet/island color in a kitchen. For those of you who are bit more subtle, it also works great in an accent rug or in paintings on the wall.
