Businesses Opening in Hubbell Communities

Covid-19 has hit small businesses hard and despite retail vacancy rates for small businesses rising to 12.5% in downtown Des Moines, Hubbell Realty Company is excited to welcome several new businesses to our communities. These businesses have worked hard to establish successful business plans and make progress in what has been unforeseen and challenging times.

Craft Bru

Looking to enjoy a drink with a friend as restrictions lift? Scheduled to open summer of 2021, Craft Bru is a 60-handle craft beer taproom, started by craft beer enthusiast Dennis Dix. This warm, vibrant space is in LINC at Gray’s Station, downtown Des Moines’ newest neighborhood. This is the first taproom to utilize a Contactless beer pouring system, with a connected app; through the app users can build a flavor profile based on beers that they like, order, and pay. Being from Vermont, Dix is no stranger to cold weather, so naturally Craft Bru features a heated patio to enjoy the coolest of fall and spring nights.

Local breweries are gaining popularity in Des Moines and around the Midwest, and when it comes to local beer, no one is more excited than Dix.

“In addition to the Iowa breweries, we're excited to feature, we will also focus on bringing a lot of beer from outside the state. Guests can expect frequent 'tap take-overs' highlighting these breweries, along with constantly changing and seasonal beer menus,” said Dix in a release earlier this year. Iowa Spine and Performance

Don’t let the concern of getting hurt keep you from returning to sports and activities! Also opening in the LINC at Gray’s community is Iowa Spine and Performance, a chiropractic office founded by Iowa native Dr. Michael Henrichs. Whether you want to return to a professional sports career or take care of aches and pains, Iowa Spine and Performance can help you return to activity.

“A large part of care in our office is educating and empowering the patients on how they can continue to better themselves outside of the office” said Henrichs. Dr. Henrichs unique treatment plan balances chiropractic care and rehab technique. Iowa Spine and Performance is fostering relationships with a litany of local gyms and trainers to provide a seamless transition from rehabilitation to maintenance. With treatments ranging from personal training to dry needling, Iowa Spine and Performance can get you back in fighting shape.

B Nails

Hubbell Apartment Living is also excited to see one of our favorite businesses in our communities reopen. B Nails and Salon reopened in May of last year and continues to be a relaxing retreat at Cityville on 9th. This salon offers services including shellac, Manicure, Waxing, Gel nails, and pedicures, and has frequent deals. B Nails and Salon offers discounts to groups, military, and students, making a trip to this salon (or two or three trips) affordable, with easy access for the dwellers of Cityville and everyone in downtown Des Moines. B Nails is planning a second location within LINC at Gray’s Station later in 2021 into 2022.

Are you looking for a place for you or your business to live? Check out Cityville on 9th for retail and apartment openings and make sure to support these awesome businesses and more as they open.
