After a monthlong demolition, crews began construction Sept. 11 on the new Des Moines Ronald McDonald House for families of severely ill children.

The project was the subject of Hubbell Realty Co.'s 2017 "extreme build" project — and in just six days, the foundation was finished, walls were up and the roof was on the house.

A team of workers, all professional builders volunteering their time and expertise, had been on site morning and night. The goal: to get the house done in 11 days or less.
