Built in 1924, the building was home to Mack Truck International Corporation along Des Moines historic Auto Row. After Mack, the building, commonly referred to as the Lovejoy Building, was home to multiple businesses including the Walsmith Printing Company until being renovated by Hubbell Realty Company.
"I am so excited to see what Hubbell has done with the old Lovejoy Building, by restoring it and creating the lofts of Station 121. While so much of Des Moines downtown's architectural heritage and history has been knocked down and erased, Hubbell has gone to great lengths to preserve a little piece of character in the western gateway neighborhood,” said Jason Walsmith, whose family owned the printing company.
Station 121 has studio, one- and two-bedroom spaces, as well as two-story units featuring built-in bridge trusses. Station is joining a handful of other up-and-coming restaurants in the Western Gateway Neighborhood such as Exile, Horizon Line Coffee, Found Things, Grumpy Goat and The Walnut.
