Hubbell Realty Company is proud to announce $25,000 has been donated to Community Youth Concepts (CYC) through the Hubbell Extreme Charity Golf Classic, presented by Plumb Supply Company and Kohler, held on September 5.
The money donated to CYC will be used to build a High and Low Ropes Course near Stowe Elementary School. A ropes course is a challenging outdoor personal development and team-building activity that consists of both high and low elements. The high elements are among the trees and require a belay to ensure safety, while low elements are ropes, wood beams and other materials closer to the ground.
“With Hubbell's help, CYC is one step closer to being able to install a ropes course in the metro area. The Stowe Heights Challenge Course will provide team-building opportunities for youth and adults of all abilities. With a planned opening in spring 2020, CYC is excited to bring this community resource to fruition through its partnerships,” said Amy Croll, Executive Director of Community Youth Concepts.
The Hubbell Extreme Charity Golf Classic has been held in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019. This day-long event features two flights of golf at Copper Creek Golf Course, raffle and door prizes as well as hole prizes along the course. This year, Hubbell had more than 270 participants golf in the event.
The golf classic is held on the years when Hubbell is not participating in a Hubbell Extreme Build. In 2017, Hubbell tore down and rebuilt the Ronald McDonald House in 11 days, creating fifty percent more space for families using the NICU, PICU and Blank Children’s Hospital at UnityPoint Health in downtown Des Moines. Other extreme builds included: Cabins for Campers with Easter Seals in 2013; 9 Homes in 9 Days for 9 Families with Anawim Housing in 2009 and the original build in 2006 with ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
