Mad Meatball celebrates grand opening at LINC at Gray’s Station

Mad Meatball, a popular pizza shop formerly located in the East Village, celebrated its grand opening at LINC at Gray’s Station in late January.

In mid-2019, Mad Meatball announced they would be moving out of their SE 5th location, where they had resided for many years. The restaurant is known for its eclectic and retro feel, great pizza (and meatballs) and family-friendly, sports-themed environment. The new space at LINC has more than 3,000 square feet of space which Mad Meatball customized into booths, a three-sided bar with plenty of seating as well as an expanded outdoor patio overlooking the downtown skyline.

“While leaving the building we’ve called home for so many years wasn’t an easy decision, we know that this prime location at LINC will give us a great connection to downtown residents and visitors as well as more space to grow,” said Andy Hartman, co-owner of Mad Meatball. “Our improvements took longer than anticipated, but we’re extremely excited to reopen and welcome back our many died-hard Mad fans.”

Mad Meatball is located at 210 SW 11th Street, at the corner of MLK Jr. Parkway and SW 11th. Mad Meatball joins other LINC local businesses Craft Bru, a 60-handle taproom, as well as Iowa Spine + Performance chiropractic clinic ran by Iowa-native Dr. Michael Henrichs, both of which opened in late 2021.

LINC at Gray’s Station is a rental apartment and townhome community constructed by Hubbell Realty Company with 1, 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes available now. Gray’s Station, a 75-acre urban neighborhood, continues to build for-sale townhomes in Phase One and is currently planning to move into Phase Two later this year. The 1-mile Gray’s bike trail leads to the Coleman Bridge, connecting downtown Des Moines to Gray’s Lake Park and more than 500 miles of Central Iowa bike trails.
