Two Hubbell multifamily communities receive Iowa Workforce Housing Tax Credits

West Des Moines, IA – Two upcoming Hubbell communities have received Iowa Workforce Housing Tax Credits for multifamily housing. The two communities, located in Norwalk and in downtown Des Moines, aim to provide more options for affordable homes in these growing locations.

“We’re encouraged to see these two projects be awarded credits that will make these homes more accessible to those searching for rental units in these locations,” said Matt Weller, Vice President of Development at Hubbell. “As developers, we continue to look for ways to create housing that meets Iowans where they are – whether that’s professionally or personally.”

Callaway, Holland Pointe

This rental townhome community consists of 58 townhomes within the Holland Pointe, a Hubbell master planned community, adjacent to Elizabeth Holland Park. Amenities will include garages, clubhouse, pool, walking trails and dog park and fitness center. This housing is critical as Norwalk eyes future expansion including Post Holdings adding 187 jobs, new restaurant and retail owners and new hotel options surrounding the Gregg Young sports and rec complex.

Hubbell plans to break ground by end of 2024.

LINC at Gray’s Station

This will be the fourth phase of the successful LINC at Gray’s Station project in downtown Des Moines. This community will have 135 apartment homes with one-and-two-bedrooms and amenities like a community room, private patios, great trail access and access to all LINC amenities. Previous LINC homes feature two phases of rental apartments and one phase of rental townhomes.

This project will come online as major employers like American Equity announces its plans to consolidate offices, bringing roughly 650 employees to downtown. According to the Des Moines Partnership, Des Moines’ population has grown at a breakneck rate of 16.3% between 2012 and 2022, which has outpaced every other major metropolitan market in the Midwest.

Hubbell plans to break ground by late 2024 or early 2025.
