The Iowa Soccer Development Foundation is pleased to announce an exciting endowment. Hubbell Realty Company — central Iowa’s leading real estate developer — is investing $250,000 toward the Pro Iowa Initiative. Hubbell Realty offers commercial and multifamily construction, development, property management, brokerage and homebuilding services in the central Iowa region, including the creation of the urban Gray’s Station community, which is located near the new Pro Iowa Stadium and Global Plaza site.
“Hubbell’s endowment to the Pro Iowa Initiative reiterates their commitment to central Iowa and investment in improving the connectivity and enjoyability of our communities,” said Charley Campbell, Iowa Soccer Development Foundation secretary. “We look forward to working with Hubbell to expand upon all that downtown Des Moines and the Gray’s Lake area have to offer Iowans and those who visit our great city.”
Gray's Station — an urban neighborhood owned and developed by Hubbell Realty — combines the vibrancy of downtown Des Moines with connectivity to the outdoors. This community features single-family homes, for sale and rental townhomes, rental apartments, and local business along the MLK Jr. Parkway corridor. Gray’s Station is adjacent to the planned Pro Iowa Stadium and Global Plaza. Both projects are designed to improve connectivity to downtown Des Moines through nearby Gray’s Lake Park, Water Works Park, downtown Des Moines and the 500+ miles of trails surrounding the neighborhood.
“Hubbell strongly believes in the Pro Iowa Soccer Stadium and Global Plaza plans and we have been a supporter of the redevelopment well before it was unveiled,” said Rick Tollakson, President and CEO of Hubbell Realty. “This area has undergone immense improvements in the last five years, and it’s slated for great change that will inevitability improve the connectivity of downtown Des Moines. This type of neighborhood advancement takes extreme tenacity, inventiveness and leadership — all of which can be found within the leadership of the Pro Iowa Initiative. We’re thrilled to support this project as it reimagines the site adjacent to Gray’s Station, connects to the future of ICON Water Trails at the Raccoon River and revives a long-forgotten entryway into our city.”
The Iowa Soccer Development Foundation — the local nonprofit in charge of the fundraising efforts for the Pro Iowa Initiative — has raised more than $20.8 million to date toward its private funding goal. Demolition of the Dico site, where the Pro Iowa Stadium and Global Plaza will be housed, is still taking place. Construction of the Pro Iowa Stadium and Global Plaza will begin in 2022, with first kick anticipated in 2024.
