Des Moines Register: market-rate rents in metro remain surprisingly steady

The relatively steady price in Des Moines is similar to trends observed by top local apartment developer Hubbell Realty Co. Its 2016-2021 figures for Des Moines' central business district, Altoona, Ankeny and the western suburbs, show an increase of about 7%.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that real estate research service CoStar Group, in another rental market analysis, found U.S. rents rose an average of 11.3% in 2021. The CoStar data shows that from the first quarter of 2021 to the first quarter of 2022, rents in the metro's core rose 5.3% in Polk County, 7.4% in Dallas County and 4.4% in Warren County.
