Hubbell Homes announces Hawthorn townhomes in Pleasant Hill

Hubbell Homes, one of Central Iowa's largest local homebuilders based out of West Des Moines, has announced Hawthorn townhomes, a new for-sale townhome community in Pleasant Hill. The townhomes, which start in the $270's, are located off of Martha Miller Drive, in a rapidly developing area of Pleasant Hill.

The townhomes feature ranch and two-story plans with:

  • 2 & 3 bedrooms
  • 2 & 2.5 baths
  • 2 car garages
  • 1,245-1,591 square feet

According to Pleasant Hill's 2025 Economic Development Analysis the city is lacking smaller units for 54% of the population that are one-and-two person households, citing affordability concerns. Additionally, Pleasant Hill has only seen 1% of new housing permits coming in the form of 2-4 unit developments, or what is often referred to as "middle housing."

"Hubbell is really proud to provide these quality homes in this rapidly growing area of town at a much more attainable price point than many single-family options in the market. Our ranch plan provides a great one-story living opportunity for older Iowans who want to avoid stairs and the ongoing maintenance," said Rachel Flint, Senior Vice President of Iowa Homebuilding, including Hubbell Homes. "Add in the convenient connections to nearby businesses, bike trails and being 10 minutes from downtown Des Moines, Pleasant Hill has done a fantastic job of creating connectivity throughout this area to drive homeownership."

In 2025, newly constructed townhomes are on the rise across the marketplace. So far this year, 50 townhomes have been sold or closed in the metro, with Hubbell Homes leading the share with 14 sales.

Next door, Hubbell Realty Co., Hubbell Homes parent company, opened Forge65, a rental townhome and apartment community in mid-2023 and recently opened Edencrest at Pleasant Hill in late 2024, which will celebrate its' grand opening on April 3.
