Des Moines, IA (March 19, 2018) – Johnny’s Hall of Fame: Des Moines Original Sports Bar is celebrating 35 years of being on Court Avenue as well as 10 years under new ownership. We want you to join us for a celebration at Johnny’s Hall of Fame at 302 Court Avenue on March 22, 2018!

Johnny’s has a rich history on Court Avenue; 56 years in total. John & Fran Ulrich, the original owners of Johnny’s, moved to the popular Court Avenue district in 1983. They collected and covered the walls with nearly 5,000 pieces of sports memorabilia creating a sports enthusiasts dream atmosphere. Disaster struck twice for Johnny’s; once when fire and water damaged 75 percent of the photo collection and then again by the flood of ’93 but through it all, Johnny’s has persevered. 

“Johnny’s has a long history, not only in Des Moines, but on Court Avenue. It was the very first sports bar in the city and has stood strong through changing markets and the redevelopment of downtown Des Moines. We truly appreciate the support of this community and our patrons. We’re looking forward to the next 35 years on Court,” said Todd Millang, managing partner for Johnny’s Hall of Fame.

Millang, along with Hubbell Realty Company, renovated the bar in 2008 and is happy to be celebrating 10 years under this ownership.
