A new pedestrian bridge over the Raccoon River near downtown Des Moines will be named after one of the city's longest-serving council members and his wife.
The bridge will be known as the Chris and Marcie Coleman Bridge. The Des Moines City Council unanimously voted to approve the name Monday — Chris Coleman's last meeting as a five-term councilman.
"He's dedicated his life to this city," said Councilman Joe Gatto. "We owe him and his family for that."
