Hubbell Realty Company has started construction of Edencrest at Timberline, an 80-unit, full-service senior living community in Urbandale. Edencrest at Timberline will be located northeast of the roundabout at 142nd Avenue and Douglas Parkway and will offer independent living homes, assisted living units and memory care units. Developed by Hubbell, and operated by Jay Bird Senior Living, the community is estimated to cost $20.2 million and will be the seventh Edencrest community in Central Iowa. The homes are expected to be available in spring 2023.
Similar to other Edencrest communities, there will be multiple shared community spaces, such as library, dining hall, outdoor patio, fitness center and connecting outside walking trails.
“We’ve all witnessed such extreme growth in the western suburbs and our team recognized Urbandale as that ideal location,” said Kris Saddoris, Vice President of Development with Hubbell. “We are excited to add a new senior living option to the city and this neighborhood will coincide with the City of Urbandale’s desire to develop this intersection into a successful mixed-use area.”
According to New York Real Estate News, by 2050, there are expected to be nearly 86 million people over the age of 65, a projected increase of about 50 percent, according to recent data compiled by CBRE. Many in that bracket who are currently homeowners will be looking to downsize, with senior living communities serving as an easy alternative to a smaller house or condo.
Edencrest has locations all around the Greater Des Moines metro area: Des Moines (Edencrest at Riverwods and Edencrest at Beaverdale), Johnston (Edencrest at Green Meadows), Ankeny (Edencrest at Siena Hills), Norwalk (Edencrest at The Legacy), and our newest location in Altoona (Edencrest at Tuscany).
